Balcombe Community Pub Re-opens

The Balcombe Co-operative pub, The Half Moon Inn, opened for business today at 12:00, after a brief closure for the new management team to do some further refurbishments and prepare themselves for the anticipated onslaught from the local community.

And it all looks clean and bright and very welcoming. The hand pumps were busy as was the kitchen with a brand new menu and an impressive wine list; champagne anyone? Inside there are comfy new stools to tempt you into sitting at the bar to enjoy a convivial drink, and possibly a bar snack, alongside a chat with the new team and your fellow visitors.

It’s early days, but it’s most definitely congratulations to everyone involved, especially the team who have steered the whole project from those worrying days when the for sale signs went up. It’s now up to us, the community, to ensure our pub prospers.

So I look forward to many more visits myself (I’m already booked in for a family Sunday lunch), and I expect I’ll see many more of you there. Or else!

Cheers!
