History Society – The Swing Riots
Steve Duke is a gardener with a passion for local history. He will draw us in to the dramatic story of local riots that took place in the autumn of 1830 when mechanised farming threatened the livelihoods of rural people.
Guests are always welcome (£5 per talk), with no charge for students or children.
May we ask you to renew your subscriptions for 2026 at this event: £10 pp (cash please), which covers all six Talks for the year, and offers half-price entry to an evening at Balcombe Place in May.
Please come a little earlier if you want to renew or acquire membership. Doors will be open from 6.20pm.
