Clever Balcombe. We have won a silver gilt in the South and South East in Bloom awards!
Balcombe has been recognized with a Silver Gilt in the South & South East In Bloom Awards 2019.
For the first time, we entered the competition in the Parish of the Year category. Two of the judges visited us back in July and were shown around the village by Rob McIntyre who organizes the Guerilla Gardeners group. The judges walked around various areas, including the station, the greens opposite the school and the shop, the recreation ground, and they were shown all the village planters, including those outside Bramble Hall.
The judges also took into account the community involvement in the village and were told about the annual summer fete, the community-owned pub, restoration of the phone boxes, Community Links and the station bookshelf, the school pond, allotments, the Victory Hall and Balcombe Club, as well as many other aspects of Balcombe life.
Rob received the award on behalf of Balcombe Parish Council at the South & South East In Bloom Awards 2019 ceremony at the Amex Stadium in Brighton on Friday September 13th — a very GOOD day for Balcombe! Gold next year?
