Christmas Market 19th December
The Balcombe Christmas Tree Society – bringing festive spirit wherever possible
Let’s not get (lock)down about Coronavirus. Because plans are afoot for a village Christmas celebration.
Our Christmas tree and lights will soon be bringing cheer to the village, just in time for the reopening of our fantastic pub and social club.
Even more excitingly (subject to restrictions and weather permitting) we hope to be able to hold a Christmas Market on the 19th December. We already have permission to close Bramble Hill and Stockcroft Road to allow us to socially distance more easily.
There will of course be the usual barbecue, an outside bar and stalls selling local produce. The sound of sleigh bells will be in the air and one way or another, Santa will be in attendance.
I’m not sure yet if we can sing carols but we can certainly hum them behind our masks! If we can… we will!
The tombola will be on in The Half Moon and prizes and other donations can still be donated via Isabel at Threads.
Admittance will be by pre-purchased wristbands (to be sold in the usual local outlets) which will enable us to effectively track and trace should the unfortunate happen. The wristband will cost around £6 and include something from the barbecue and one entry into the grand prize draw.
All proceeds will go to local charities – to help the most vulnerable during these difficult times. Should the event be cancelled we will continue with the prize draw, but hope that the good folk of Balcombe will donate the initial entrance fee to the Christmas Tree Society and Fete Committee charities (who are putting on this event together).
So, save the date – 19th December, on Bramble Hill / Stockcroft Road between 2pm and 6pm.
Keep an eye on Facebook for news and fingers crossed we can have some festive fun! Look after yourselves. From all of us to all of you.
